Yokohama

Yokohama (横 浜) is the second largest city in Japan, with a population of more than three million inhabitants. Yokohama is less than half an hour south of Tokyo by train and is the capital of Kanagawa prefecture.

At the end of the Edo Period (1603-1867), during which Japan maintained a policy of self-isolation, the port of Yokohama was one of the first to be opened to foreign trade in 1859. As a result, Yokohama grew rapidly from a small village of fishermen. in one of the main cities of Japan.

Landmark Tower

The Yokohama Landmark Tower is a great beast of a structure. What is lacking in the visual subtlety that pays off in an impressive statute - about 300 m high, is the second tallest building (skyscraper) in Japan.

The entrance to the shopping plaza and surrounds is completely free so the Landmark Tower Sky Garden is about 8 euros.

Sankeien Garden

And to finish nothing better than a walk in this wonderful garden.

Sankeien (三 溪 園) is a spacious Japanese-style garden in the south of Yokohama, which displays a number of historic buildings from all over Japan. There is a pond, small rivers, flowers and wonderful scrolling trails that make you think you are in Kyoto rather than Yokohama.
