Japan is a country that is located on the Asian continent.

"Land of the Rising Sun" comes from the Empire's missions with the Chinese Sui dynasty and refers to the eastern position of Japan in relation to China.

It is an island country, with an area of 377 thousand square kilometers.

 

The Japanese territory is made up of 3,000 islands which, in aggregate, correspond to the areas of the Brazilian states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. The main islands are Honshu, Shikoku, Hokkaido, Kyushu.
