Sakura in Japanese is the flower that symbolizes Japan. The symbology is so intense that the people respect it as the Japanese flag itself or the national anthem.

 

Legend has it that SAKURA comes from Princess KONOHANA SAKUYA HIME who would have fallen from the sky near Mount Fuji and would have turned into this beautiful flower.

 

It is also believed to have its origin in rice cultivation. The KURA part means deposit where rice was stored, the staple food of the Japanese considered a divine gift.
